Herdeg named new Cuyahoga County economic development chief

Cuyahoga County Council unanimously approved Paul Herdeg as the county’s new economic development chief to replace Ted Carter, who left the role for a position with the City of Baltimore in April, Cleveland.com reports. Herdeg had been serving as chief in an interim capacity since Carter’s departure, and has “worked in the county’s development department in a variety of roles since 1994, beginning as a housing manager and working up to his most recent role of deputy chief,” according to the article. Herdeg said “the county must focus more on developing the local workforce,” as businesses considering locating in Cuyahoga County “have raised concerns about whether they will be able to find qualified workers.” Creating a “steady, consistent supply of talent” is part of Herdeg’s plan to boost overall development.
